Blog Post #8 - Blogging Reflection

Before English 101, I had never blogged before.  I didn’t think it was that important, but after taking this course, I learned a lot about how useful blogging is.  A few things that I think are the most important about blogging is the more you write, the better you become at writing, having feedback from your peers does help you, and having your teacher correct you on what you need to do better is always an advantage. Blog posts 2, 3, and 5 are the three blog posts that I think are my best.

Blog post 2 was Why College.  I picked this one particularly because I thought I had a lot of good reasons of why one should attend college.  One of my reasons for attending college was that it is expected in my family.  My parents both went to college and are very successful today.  I honestly am blessed to have parents like them.  They have raised me with such good morals and standards in life.  I know this is just one reason, but I also listed 5 other reasons.  Having information to back up your point is crucial for a good blog post.  I feel like I accomplished this in this post.

Another post that I thought was effective for me was 3 which was What is College Good For.  I thought this post was good because I started with a rough draft and worked on it gradually.  On my first blog post, I thought of a single idea, branched off of it and worked my way towards other ideas.  This method worked way better for me because I thought of ideas, composed them, and then I could later come back to them and expand.

Lastly, my blog post 5 was Share or Die Response.  This post was good because it talked about how our society has been sharing personal information on the internet with strangers and how we are losing our communication skills.  I totally think this is true because the level of communication with a parent and their child is awful.  A mother will ask her child how their day was and we will say fine and that’s it.  Before all of this crazy technology was invented we could actually be personal with our parents and now were personal with twitter and facebook.  It’s really sad when you come to think about it.  I thought this was a valid argument that I brought up and I thought other bloggers really agreed with me.

Overall, I think blogging is very useful.  It makes you grow intellectually as a person.  Blogging is also useful because other bloggers can comment on your blog and give you feedback.  I think this course has taught me a lot and I am glad I took it.
