Blog #1 - About Me

Hello! My name is Samantha Marie Bohne and I am from Elgin, Illinois.  I was born on February 5^th, 1994, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois.  I have 2 parents, Ralph and Janet, a sister, Elizabeth, and 2 boston terriers, Lucky and Rudy.  I love my family more than anything because they will always be there for me and love me unconditionally.

When I was younger, I always wanted to be my sister.  She is my inspiration in life and always will be.  Liz was a big fan of volleyball and used to play in grade school, high school, and even at the club level.  Once she moved on from the sport, I took over her role.  My parents enrolled me in travel volleyball at a club called Sky High when I was 12.  I played there until I was 18 and played on the top team for my age division every year.  My team has always been one of the best throughout the country.  We even won 2 consecutive, national titles and a 2^nd place finish.

The reason I chose Jacksonville State University as my college was partly because of the volleyball aspect.  The Head Volleyball Coach, Joseph Goodson, had recruited me to come play for his team.  I was swept off my feet when I visited the campus in October of 2011 and that was when I knew I was coming here.
